Drugs case put back due to interpreter blunder
Two men accused of supplying cocaine are to return to Magistrates court after an interpreting service claimed the court failed to book them for a hearing.
[…]
The court heard from prosecutors who discovered no interpreter who could speak Sorani Kurdish – a particular dialect from Iraqi Kurdistan – had been booked to attend court, and an over-the-phone interpreter service claimed a booking had been cancelled by the court earlier this morning.
Both men were granted unconditional bail and were ordered to return to Magistrates court on April 13 in an attempt to progress the case.
